POST-SURGICAL REHABILITATION

Post-surgical rehabilitation is a critical phase of recovery that bridges the gap between surgery and a full return to daily activities, work, or sport. Surgery often addresses the structural problem, but it also leads to pain, swelling, stiffness, muscle inhibition, and altered movement patterns. Without targeted rehabilitation, patients risk delayed healing, loss of function, and reinjury. A well-structured post-surgical rehab plan helps restore mobility, rebuild strength, and reestablish proper movement patterns, ensuring that surgical outcomes are fully realized.

Treatment involves a phased, evidence-based approach tailored to the specific procedure and patient. Early stages focus on protecting the surgical site, reducing pain and swelling, and maintaining surrounding joint mobility. As healing progresses, the focus shifts toward restoring range of motion, reactivating muscles, and gradually increasing strength and functional capacity. Later phases incorporate task-specific or sport-specific training to safely transition patients back to their normal activities. Regular communication with the surgical team and careful monitoring of healing timelines are essential to balance protection with progressive loading, ultimately optimizing recovery and long-term outcomes.
